A game of wild DR's ensued. We diced for sides and I rolled high for the Germans. Mk3 FT, very nice thank you, I imagined all kinds of havoc with this beast around. Mark setup light in the east edge of the village with his main force stationed across the road in buildings S3,T3,T4. I setup my on board forces heavy on the north edge for the old "board edge dash". The re-enforcements decided it would be a good idea to race into the south side of town. I loaded an 8-1 467 and lmg on the back of the Mk4 and off we went. The on board guys raced up to Marks outpost line with no trouble at all, the same couldn't be said of my flanking team. In a moment of pure genius I raced through the grain and parked the Mk4 between buildings Y8 and Y6. Along came defensive fire......... Out pops the hip atr half squad in Y6 with a butt shot at point blank. The only thing that saved me was that he got a turret hit, (tough rear turret) the result being a shock instead of a kill. Next out comes the 45LL hip'd in U6, this opens fire, side shot +5 all up for a miss. The Mk4 is feeling a little nervous by now. My AFPh starts to drive in his outpost line on the east edge of town. Russ Turn1 and my Mk4 becomes a UK. The atr guys lines me up, bounces on off the rear of the Mk4. 45LL opens fire, 6,6. Ah those cursed dice. After this a general skulk by the Russkies gives me no targets. The riders decide to break and bail out, K/ on the squad results, not so good. German turn 2 and the charmed life of my Mk4 comes to an end with a 6 on the UK. No self rally for the riders. Mark also manages to 6 his repair roll for the 45LL. So much for the flank attack, up the guts is the way to go. I decide not to shoot at the units in S3, straight into movement. Now I figure that a tank in motion even with street fighting should be fairly safe so the Mk3 ft is sent forward against S3. Well you guessed it, Marks 447 passes his Paatc, strides out into the street, chucks a grenade down the hatch and I never even get to flame a soul. I'm doing it hard now, 5 squads attempting to remove 6 447's from the village and a KV1 arriving at any moment. No one said it was easy. I kept hammering away, captured S3 and T4 but the last turn mad attack across the street to U6 wasn't ever going to work. An 8-2 shot against one of my squads resulted in a 3KIA. Ugly. So I ground to a halt. A great little game, some appalling decisions by myself and good rearward defense by Mark gave the Russians a deserved win. Cheerio DW
